African Drumming Assemble

Students were exposed to West African culture through drums, various African languages, and were able to express themselves through African dance. Student reactions included. “I really like this activity” and “The dance felt awkward at first but once I understood it was fun.” One student was so interested in the activity that he was inspired to conduct research when he returned to class. TMS's philosophy, students learn interrelationship of all the instruments and how they are dependent on each other to create sound.” Much like one of the CAIR's saying "One Band: One Sound".. .
